Traditional Chinese Medicine
Although traditional Chinese medicine, or TCM, is often disregarded by the western world, it is still highly practiced in China and many other Asian countries. Traditional Chinese medicine began thousands of years ago in ancient China. It was closely associated with the rhythms of nature and the cosmos. TCM has been studied for years and there are many different ancient legends about its creation. Today traditional Chinese medicine practices include Shiatsu massages, acupuncture, and different forms of herbal medicine.
Chinese herbology focuses on maintaining certain balances within our bodies. When we are ill, our bodies are out of balance, and we need to restore equilibrium to become healthy. Green tea plays a very important role in Chinese herbology and has been used for thousands of years to help people stay healthy.
Green tea is used in a variety of ways in traditional Chinese medicine. Its main use is to be consumed on a daily basis as a preventative measure. Drinking a glass of green tea everyday will help to ward off illness and other health problems. The Chinese are also know for mixing a variety of herbs into green tea and then drinking the whole concoction. They will commonly mix in herbs such as ginseng, wolfberry, and ginger in order to create an extremely healthy and simple drink.
The importance of green tea in China is a clear indicator of its special properties and usefulness even in modern times. It is foolish to overlook something as simple as drinking a cup of tea everyday. It is a shame that Western medicine does not give more credit to the natural remedies of the Chinese and all the success they have had. Even though green tea cannot replace modern medicines it is a simple and healthy addition to anybody’s daily diet. |
