The Importance Of Green Tea In History
Green tea comes from the Camellia sinensis, a Southeast Asian plant. Tea consumption dates back more than 3,000 years to the time of the ancient Chinese dynasties. At this point in history, tea was revered as a wonderful drink, which was consumed by everybody. Throughout the day everyone from important government officials to regular peasants enjoyed a cup of tea. It is very rare for something this treasured to be available to nearly anyone who desired it. This was due to the fact that tea was very affordable because its main component is water. Water is one of the most commonly available substances on Earth and over the centuries has allowed billions of people to enjoy tea.
An old Chinese legend makes an attempt at explaining the origin of tea. It claims that an emperor was enjoying a cup of hot water when a few leaves were blown into his drink. After he took a sip of the water he was very happy with the way it tasted and realized it would be a popular drink among the people. Although it is unlikely that this is a valid tale, it is a story that has been passed through Chinese society for generations.
In particular, green tea is popular among many Asian countries as both a beverage and a medicine. Its special medicinal qualities have been praised for generations. Many people believe that green tea will help to prevent illness and can help to cure nearly any ailment. Historians have analyzed ancient Chinese scripture and have found many references to green tea and its “magical” properties. Although many of these claims may be scientifically false, it is clear that green tea has had a profound impact on the history of China and other Asian countries.
